THE STORY BEHIND

GROUNDED PERFORMANCE

With a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Science and a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Taran brings extensive expertise and hands-on experience to the gym. Having worked with five NCAA D1 sports performance programs, including Iowa Football and the University of Denver, Taran has been immersed in elite environments that prioritize athlete development.

Grounded Performance was born from our desire to create a space where people could train with purpose and grow stronger, both physically and mentally. As athletes and fitness enthusiasts ourselves, we saw a need for a gym in Austin, TX that combines functional training, community support, and holistic wellness.

What can I expect from a group class? 

Our group training sessions are built to bring the energy of a team environment while delivering high-quality coaching and results. Together, we start with a structured warm-up to prepare our bodies for the work ahead.

Once we're primed, we'll break down each movement—demonstrating proper form, explaining why it matters, and how we’ll cycle through the workout. Then, we crank up the music and get after it, pushing ourselves while our coaches ensure every movement is performed safely and effectively.

We track progress, adapt training intensity to fit individual needs, and create an environment where everyone—regardless of experience—can thrive.

Who are the training programs for? 

Our training is for those who want more than a workout—it's for individuals looking to train with purpose. Whether you’re a former athlete, a competitor, or someone serious about building a high-performing, pain-free body, our program is designed to meet you where you are and elevate you to where you want to be.

What does Functional Training mean?

Functional training is training with purpose—developing the physical qualities that directly improve how you perform in real life. Whether you’re a firefighter needing strength endurance to handle heavy loads, an athlete working on power and agility, or simply someone who wants to move better, feel better, and perform better, our approach is tailored to the demands of your life and goals.

How will the group classes be structured? 

Each session follows a three-block format. Every block consists of 2-4 movements, performed in a structured, circuit-style rotation.
These workouts are designed to develop a balanced combination of:

Strength & Power – Build the foundation for explosive athleticism.
Speed & Agility – Move faster, react quicker, and improve coordination.
Mobility & Movement Quality – Improve range of motion and bulletproof your body.
Muscular Endurance & Conditioning – Develop the muscle and stamina to perform at your peak.

Each workout is strategically designed to help you perform at your best—whether you’re an athlete, a competitor, or someone who just wants to move and feel better every day.

What does Holistic Training mean?

A holistic approach means we train for more than just muscle (though, trust us, you’ll build muscle).
We focus on:
