OUR STORY
Grounded Performance ATX is a veteran-owned functional fitness gym located at 12400 Amherst Dr #104, Austin, TX 78727, in the Milwood neighborhood of North Austin. Head Coach Taran, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) holding a Master's degree in Strength and Rehabilitation Science and a Bachelor's in Kinesiology, brings experience coaching across five NCAA Division I sports programs, including Iowa Football and the University of Denver. Together with co-founder Zane, Taran built Grounded Performance to bring world-class, science-backed strength training, functional fitness, and mobility coaching to everyday adults in North Austin.
Grounded Performance is a performance-based functional fitness gym in North Austin, TX, founded by two best friends, Taran and Zane, who share a passion for helping people move better, feel better, and build lasting confidence. Taran, a certified strength and conditioning practitioner with a Master's Degree in Strength and Rehabilitation Science, spent years developing elite athletes across five NCAA Division 1 programs. Zane, a lifelong multi-sport athlete who overcame 15+ major injuries through physical therapy and over 20 years of dedicated training, discovered that performance-based functional fitness was the key to living pain-free and at full potential.
Together, they built Grounded Performance to bring the same level of training that develops world-class athletes to everyday people in Austin. Our group training classes focus on strength, mobility, speed, and endurance, all backed by science-based principles and real-world coaching experience. Whether you're a busy professional looking for an efficient workout, a veteran who misses the camaraderie of team training, a prior athlete chasing new goals, or someone ready to reduce chronic pain and move with confidence, Grounded Performance was built for you.

TARAN
HEAD COACH & CO-OWNER
With a master's in Strength and Rehabilitation Science and a bachelor's in Kinesiology, Taran brings hands-on experience working with elite athletes across five NCAA D1 sports programs as a strength coach, including Iowa Football and the University of Denver. As a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), his commitment to human performance ensures the highest level of coaching for every member. Taran oversees the gym's daily operations and coaching programs, as the Head Coach.
Taran brings the same level of training that has developed countless elite athletes to the general public, making scientifically informed, performance-based functional fitness accessible to everyone!

ZANE
CO-OWNER & COACH
With over a decade of experience as a business leader, currently serving his main job as the VP of Technology and Digital Marketing for another local brand, Zane brings strategic vision and operational excellence to everything he builds, including Grounded Performance.
A lifelong multi-sport athlete in Baseball, Football, and Wrestling, Zane knows firsthand what it means to push your body to the limit. After accumulating over 15 major injuries throughout his athletic career, he spent years in physical therapy and over 20 years training to maintain the active lifestyle he refuses to give up.
When Taran introduced him to performance-based functional fitness, everything clicked, and Zane made it his mission to help others discover that this approach to training is the key to living a long, active, and pain-free life at your fullest potential! So he knew he had to open a gym with his best friend to bring this type of training to everyone who wants it!
When opening Grounded Performance, Zane took it upon himself to become a long distance runner and soon to be triathlon athlete. He never thought this was possible after multiple ACL and meniscus reconstructions, but the training style at Grounded Performance allowed him to chase this new adventure that lit a fire in him!

RAQUEL
COACH
Raquel brings energy, expertise, and a genuine passion for helping people reach their potential. Her coaching focuses on building functional strength, improving movement quality, and pushing members to new levels while maintaining proper form and safety.
Raquel's encouraging style and attention to detail make her sessions both challenging and rewarding, and her dedication to each member's growth makes her an invaluable part of the Grounded Performance team.
